Sealed Bid Auction

Some of the lots in last months sealed bid auction

One mistake I may have been making is putting all the news about our occasional auction sales in the ‘auction’ section. Pretty obvious, but I should have posted on the news page as well.

Last months ‘sealed bid’ auction was held as a result of several factors; most important being that we were told our car park was to be ploughed for spuds! (as it happens, it wasn’t)
The sale was small and select and about 70 garden items went into the catalogue. No one had tried this method of sale before (well, certainly outside Sothebys) and the results were mixed. The public were a little baffled by the format, and most of the trade stayed away.  However there was a good turnout for viewing, and 50% of the lots were sold. In the main the buyers were from further afield…the home counties, and USA. All buyers were delighted with their purchases.
It is probable that Posterity will use this system again in the future, but  does not beat the buzz of a live auction, and subject to getting our car park back, we will keep you all posted of future dates, as they are decided.  If you would like to be added to an auction mailing list then please call us or email us with your email addresses.
